Need a tissue?

I bought this tissue cover as a blank...Not a blank per-say but a white tissue cover...I needed to do something to it from an idea I had at work...And this is what happened...Not much more to say...Enjoy

Beans Beans

After having done the bowl with the red beans I decided to just go crazy and do another...I bought some beans and went to town on a large vase...Compared to the bowl its large...If it weren't for the fumes the hot glue gun emits I'm sure to have made three more of these by now...But I cant complain when I found the gun with the sticks to begin with...So with some ventilation I will make another in the near future...
It is super time consuming and it took me three nights to finish about two hours each night...But the end result is stunning...Looks like something done in Africa...I do have to get some poly to finish the piece because heavens forbid that some water gets on this...Though it would make an interesting plant projects...Omg grass seeds would be amazing...Emjoy

"Miss Piggy wore this" Series

I am constantly looking and trying to salvage and trying to use what ever seems of interest...My turtle Miss Piggy shed her scutes and i just couldn't bear to get rid of them...I added them to my stash of supplies and after some time I had an idea...Once back into my jewelry making mode I decided to use the scutes for necklaces...

These are from the top of the shell...there is a central line of scutes surrounded by a ring of more scutes...

These are from that outer ring of scutes...I have another set from the other side which will also find new life as a necklace...Each sits on a base of polymer clay with beads embedded...The larger set has a backing of faux leather just for an extra pop...

This is a set I made with a single scute and two opposite ones for the earrings...

Here she is the one and only Miss Piggy...Well at least the only one I know personally...

Experiments with Metal Bowl and Records

Just as its titled Experiments I did with a metal bowl and records to see what would happen when I baked them in the same setting and on top of the same object...This was very interesting since each record though vinyl yielded different results...Telling me that each was of different vinyl and had a life of its own... The one that has an Alvar Aalto look to it was the most problematic...I need as close as I can get to symmetry and this record was just hating on me...When it melted it was lopsided in symmetry then I turned it around to change the direction of the folds and still nothing...Then I placed it inside the bowl and hand worked it to this shape as it cooled...

The other three happened on their own pretty much...The one with the four sharp points looked like this but I molded the points out...I enjoyed this experiment very much and will do another with the same metal bowl but in the opposite position , right side up...These are the beginning of the Records for Plants series...Even though these make great bowls for decoration or for those keys you seem to loose every time...

Records for Plants

Many out there have been making things out of records for a long time...Making bowls if just about the easiest thing you can do with a record...Pop it in the over over a tall object such as a mug or metal bowl and presto after a couple of minutes a bowl is made from the record...I never had the time to try it until the other day when I made the Uterus by accident...Then I made another, and stopped to think...

Still not having time to do more I waited...The other day I had the time and began another experiment...Bowl in oven, heat set and wait...Then take out and shape as symmetrical as possible because if I don't it'll drive me crazy...Sure I can make bowls galore, but I want to do something new...After a couple of days of brewing ideas and looking at my plants I realized they would look awesome in a record...It has a built in drainage hole and all it needs is a plant in it...So I made this little guy and covered in daisies just for fun...

The hangers are made from this plastic mesh thing I've had lying around for who knows how long...But it works and looks kinda cool...I now have many ideas for hanging plants and will make more of these and find ways to configure them...Possibly I will make a whole hanging plant series ranging from one to at most four bowls...My only frustration is the fact that there is zero space in my kitchen so that when I take out the bowl there is no counter space to put it on and mold it...I have to do it all on hand in the air and fast... I have a rather small kitchen compared to my apartment...but I have high hopes that in the near future there is a kitchen somewhere where I can do a cartwheel in...Here is what it looks like hanging and with a plant in it...

Jewelry is Brewing and being Produced

Other than the works below I have been creating new necklaces...It was a while before the juice to make necklaces came back as soon as I had found my Happy...I had collected Shells and Crab legs and crab shells on the last trip to the beach...Which reminds me I must go back to add to my surplus...

I had seen these intact and rather smelly crab parts littering the beach and thought well well lookie here, seems someone knew I'd need all of this...And need I did and very happy I was...(did I just go all Yoda) Anyways, I collected all the crab arms I could fit in my zip-lock bag and found some whole crab shells which I wondered what I could do with ...As I walked back to my child I looked at the Coney Island skyline and realized this was what I was going to put on the shells...I still don't know what to do with the lot of crab legs that sit on my fire escape being cleaned out by flies...And a shout out to them for all the hard work they do...But this is what I did with one of the Crab shells....

The Famous Face of Coney Island had to be the first image I used...The chain is hand made from memory wire which is supposed to stay as a loop but once bent into another shape its remembrance properties work just as well...Its a very light piece which is nice...Cant wait to make the others using...I wont tell, just wait till I show you...

Constutitional Dog

This jewelry box is simply called "Constitutional dog" due to its surface being covered in an aged copy of the constitution...Its one of those moments when you just don't know what to do with booth things and then click there it is, they belong together...
I had gotten this jewelry box in a thrift store and knew one day it was going to need a new look in order to find it a new home...I'm not all American by any means but on a trip to the Statue of liberty once when I was little I begged for one of these old looking copies of an important document...I always believed to have had
many past lives and items of antiquity remind my subconscious of those moments lived...

The Constitution spent many years in our home in a frame and then under a bed once the decor had been modernized...Time changed the paper to from cream to brown and made it very brittle...For me it was even the more amazing and ready to apply to a new surface...The dog sat there waiting for a new life and the two fit perfectly...I have no clue as to what each has to do with the other but for me they work lovely...So this dog jewelry box is now an all American Pup...Even though he probably made in China...but I wont tell if you don't...

Here is the link to my shop to view it for sale....

And last but not least Steeda

The last of the pony of the sisters...Steeda is covered in blue butterflies...Looking like she is about to be taken away into flight far far away...Blue being my fave color I had to just do what was natural and run with it...It took me a while to come up with what to apply to her but as always it was spur of the moment...I had bought the little butterfly puncher and wondered when I'd use it... As I looked at my last pony it came to me...

Paint her in three shades of blue and then cover her in 3 more shades of butterflies...That black her is part of my moms cut from before...I did get lazy when it came to her mane and just covered it in butterflies...I guess to save me from any more work with hair and glue...Which can be tedious if you ask me...So here she is in her Blue Glory...Enjoy

New Work

While I have this huge project to to, I have regained my artistic Mojo and suddenly have ideas just pouring out of me...My process of creativity most of the time, about a 90 percent of the time "just happens"...Just like the past couple of days where I just happen to create this...
He is my little "Born To Rock" baby...While I was experimenting with melting records into bowl I came up with this shape...Which I'm my twisted creepy minded eyes I saw only one thing...A woman's reproductive system...And saw only fit to take this doll from my child's toy box and create this wonderful piece...I only took it since in this city or for that matter online tiny little dolls like this called "Berenguer Dolls" don't freaking exist...And trust me I've looked long and hard for these...This one I had gotten at Kmart in Puerto Rico...

I love this little piece of art...I'm not sure what statement it says, other than the tittle "Born to Rock"...Maybe this is what I see my daughter in the belly was like since now a days all she does is dance, sing and play any surface like and instrument aside from her own instruments...Enjoy

P.S. I made a little girl version but its still in the drying and setting process...
